FWIW I used Tenru blades in Mt DeWalt chop saw. While it worked but,I flew through blades. Why? A true dry cut metal saw has a very low RPM 1200-1400RPM. The minute I bought an Evolution saw, my blade life improved by about 8-10X

I have seen videos showing guys using Cermet II blades in regular skil saws to cut big iron. Does this mean a Cermet blade can work at normal rpm or is it just a coincidence that the saw has a low enough rpm to run the metal blade? One video on FB shows a guy triming the side off a huge steel I beam with a Cermet blade in a Makita skil saw.

As easy as a blade change? As long as you have to the correct blade for the RPM. Dry cut saws are around 1800 rpm max i believe. A 18v is around 4000+ rpm. Go ahead a kill a 100$ blade. and possible destroy your eyes while you at it.

Make sure the wire brush is stainless steel.........

I think the bandsaw will be the best choice for the low heat cuts, alternatively you could use the Evolution cut off blade but have low life span.

You shouldn’t heat the rod at all, it won’t fully mechanically bond to the aluminum, or be a weak bond. That’s called sweating, which you don’t want to do. You only heat the work piece.

I wouldnt call nws budget. Been running their cobra style pliers for a while now as a deisel mech. So far love them. Personal opinion i out them alongside knipex. I will agree thiugh that the fancy machining isnt necessary

Great video! But I'm confused...putting a 7" blade on a 12" miter saw still wouldn't slow it down enough to be in league with metal cutoff saws, right? It's obviously working for you, but is the trade-off that you're more likely to overheat, break teeth, or maybe get metal shavings in your motor? What do I know? I don't understand how a 4" grinder at 6k rpm is ok, but people say your 10" chop saw should be at 600rpm for metal (the maths don't work)

Got a couple truck tool boxes from a yard sale for dirt cheap. They had some extra holes drilled in them from the previous owner. Used these rods to patch them up and it worked a charm. Added a couple brackets and they're holding in so far. Thank you for sharing your experience! Cheers!
